Exiles Vets Take Out Boxing Day Title

Exiles Vets Take Out Boxing Day Honours

Beating all-comers at the Fat-Boys Ten's the seasoned Exiles Vets Team faced up to a range of opponents taking on the Heavyweight Potbellies and a fast Schoolboy Emirates Under 18 team to go top of their pool while conceding no points.

After a long wait between (isotonic) drinks, the Vets faced the home team; Sharjah Wanderers, but with a strong effort from all, claimed victory again without conceding any points.

The Cup Final was between a Potbellies (slim team) made up mostly of' 'twenty-somethings' who looked the biz and the knurled Exiles Vets 'forty & fifty somethings' (plus a ringer or two) who really wanted to win. The gloves were off and the first yellow card of the day was awarded to a Potbellies for a high (clothesline) tackle with two more following later (1 each) for verbals. The final result 13-5 to a jubiliant Exiles.

A serious team bonding season then followed in the clubhouse which continued on the bus home. A totally excellent day out. Big thanks to our hosts and all involved.

Vets training restarts on Monday 4th Jan 2010. The 2nd XV have their first fixture on Thursday 7th Jan @ 8pm against the Dubai Frogs. The 1st XV play Doha on Friday 8th Jan @ 3pm (both at the sevens). The Stuart Vowles Memorial Match is also on the 8th Jan 2010.

 Have a good 2010.
